"Remember you must die" A philosophical concept that symbolises the inevitability of death and the brevity of life. A nice joyful start to a Monday morning ey! You could see this two ways as it pertains to fitness and health. Option 1: Ah whats the point, we all die one day. I may as well do everything I please. Live everyday like its my last. Option 2: Im going to make sure that i can enjoy every part of my life as much as possible for as long as possible but that requires a small investment now. Both options come with a sacrifice. Option 1 potentially neglects the important aspects of looking out for your future self with could reduce your quality of life down the line.
Option 2 is short term sacrifice for long term gain. Maybe you will have a better quality of life in your old age.
I think, as always, there is a balance to be struck. Extremes in any direction are often not the best way to go.
You'll often hear about that great aunt who smoked 100-a-day who lived to 100 and the health freak who passed early and they get used as excuses to live a certain way.
But you have to understand that these are anomalies. These examples could easily be flipped and that would better resemble the truth.
You could think about fitness like a pension. You pay into it every month (sometimes begrudgingly) to look after your future self.
This is the BARE MINIMUM that you owe to yourself.
I also make this sound like health and fitness is some heinous task but it is actually be very rewarding. The feeling after completing the session, the mood and energy boost. The knock-on effect it can have everyday day life.
It is well worth the investment.
You have 12 weeks until Christmas. So stop waiting and stop putting it off.
